Bedford's response to the Advertiser article

19 July - COVID-19 Update

Bedford is closely monitoring the latest information and restrictions imposed by our health authorities after two community cases of COVID-19 emerged in South Australia today.

The State Government has announced that an 81-year-old man and his daughter returned positive COVID tests earlier today. The man recently returned to SA after quarantining for 14 days in New South Wales following an overseas trip, and has visited several Adelaide sites – including the Modbury hospital.

243 people are now in isolation and authorities are checking other possible contacts and locations the man and his daughter have visited. Please visit the SA Gov website for the latest contact tracing locations. No Bedford sites have been identified at this stage.

If you or any of the members of your household have been to any of the listed contact sites here, you and your household members must:

  • Immediately quarantine for 14 days since you were at the location
  • Get tested immediately
  • Get tested again on day 5 and day 13
  • Complete a form (via SA Health website) to notify you were at the location

As of midnight tonight, Level 4 restrictions will be in place in South Australia. These include:

  • Non-essential retail will close
  • Masks will be required on public transport and all indoor public settings
  • Gyms and indoor fitness closed
  • Work from Home strongly encouraged
  • No team, club or contact sport
  • Private activity limited to 10 people
  • Personal care services closed
  • Schools to remain open

Bedford's Executive team is urging anyone who is non-client facing to work from home. Our operations will continue, however we are listed by the federal government as an Essential Service and have strict protocols in place to keep everyone safe – including wearing masks, social distancing and QR code check-ins. We will also review our COVID-19 Response Plan on our website, should there be any other new health directives we need to factor in.

Our General Managers in Employment Services, Operations, CAL and Day Options have also prepared the PTOs and frontline staff to update these developments and communications to our clients and families with emails and SMS messaging and Toolbox Talks will be conducted tomorrow morning.
