19 January - COVID-19 Update
BEDFORD COVID CASES
There are a few staff and clients in isolation or with mild COVID-19 cases. It has caused some disruption to services, but we are doing our best to manage each situation and ensure the safety of everyone at Bedford.
For those affected by COVID-19 or needing to quarantine, please remember to text us with your full name, department and worksite you attend to 0428 598 199. The dedicated Bedford Covid Text Line is monitored during business hours and is an SMS service only, but does a lot to help inform us of the current situation, fulfil our reporting duties to the NDIS commission, and understand the impact it may have to our operations.
THE DEFINITION OF A ‘CLOSE CONTACT’ HAS CHANGED
You may be aware that SA Health has changed its directives around who qualifies as a close contact.
This doesn’t affect people who are following through on their existing directives from SA Health. If you have previously been given a directive to follow (such as quarantining at home / getting tested regularly / return to work on a set date) please complete that directive as it was given to you.
The new guidelines define ‘close contacts’ in a way which means that we will see fewer people classified as such. However, if you are defined as a close contact you must stay away from Bedford and high-risk settings for 14 days after you were exposed to COVID-19.
RESOURCING OF PPE AND TEST KITS
Yesterday Bedford received 20,000 masks, and there are more on the way. We are also sourcing more than 5,000 Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) for use at Bedford sites.
And in some good news, the Panorama cafe will re-open on Monday. Most food and drink offerings will need to be pre-ordered due to limited supply. The Hospitality team is also working hard to bring back their ‘heat and eat’ meal packs. Look out for their menu in the next couple of days!
VACCINE BOOSTERS FOR BEDFORD
Finally, we are in negotiations with Aspen Medical to roll out booster shots to some of our sites in February. We will let you know more once the dates and locations are confirmed.
Thanks everyone and, as always, stay safe.
