We are pleased to share that most of our clients have now returned to work.

While operations in South Australia are looking brighter, the number of COVID-19 cases in Victoria continues to rise, and the city of Melbourne is currently in lockdown for six weeks. Our Residential clients are holding up well, and we continue to send over supplies and personal protection equipment from South Australia.

As a result of JobKeeper payments, many of our clients will have to lodge a tax return this year. We have developed a Tax Time Workbook that highlights the support we and other authorities provide and gives important information on how to complete your tax return via MyGov. Bedford’s Hospitality department partially reopened its metropolitan cafes on 13 July 2020. There will only be pre-ordered lunches available and Fridays will be closed during July and August. All our Hospitality departments will be up and running the week commencing 31 August.

We continue to follow the recommendations of the Australian Government’s Department of Health that anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms must not come to work, stay home and contact their medical professional about whether they should get tested for COVID-19.

We also continue to maintain social distancing and hygiene practices, including hand sanitiser stations, across all our sites.

JobKeeper and DSP Update

Bedford has heard that Centrelink is very busy processing the JobKeeper forms so they can adjust everyone’s Disability Support Payments (DSP); this is because the JobKeeper payment is considered income.

Centrelink wants to get this right, so it is taking extra time to work this through, and you may find that your DSP amount has not changed.

Everyone’s situation is different, but it is important to bear in mind that until Centrelink adjusts your DSP, a most likely result is that the overpayment of the DSP is continuing to grow.

Bedford is not sure when Centrelink will be in touch with you to explain what you need to do about any DSP overpayments.

It is important that you contact Centrelink if you have any questions or concerns about how the JobKeeper payment and how it impacts your DSP.
