COVID19
Everything you need to know about how Bedford is helping our community at this time.

The health and safety of our people is our highest priority. Find all the latest information and tips around COVID-19.

Information current as of Tuesday 7 July, 2020

This page will be updated as required.

There are still no known cases of COVID-19 across any of our sites.

We are pleased to share that most of our clients have now returned to work, with the number of clients choosing to voluntarily self-isolate continuing to drop across our sites.

While operations in South Australia are looking brighter, the number of COVID-19 cases in Victoria continues to rise, and the city of Melbourne is now in lockdown for six weeks. Thankfully, our residential clients and staff do not live in the directly affected postcodes. Our Victorian residents are holding up well despite worrying times, with our South Australian sites sending over PPE and other in demand items.

Bedford’s Hospitality department partially reopened its metropolitan cafes on 13 July 2020. There will only be pre-ordered lunches available and Fridays will be closed during July and August. All our Hospitality departments will be up and running the week commencing 31 August.

Bedford continues to follow the recommendations of the Australian Government’s Department of Health that anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms must not come to work, stay home and contact their medical professional about whether they should get tested for COVID-19.

We continue to maintain social distancing and hygiene practices, including hand sanitiser stations, across all our sites.

The internal Bedford COVID-19 hotline is available for any support or questions you may have on 0429 135 448 or 0429 124 648 (Mon to Fri 8:30am – 5.00pm) or email: covidhelp@bedfordgroup.com.au.

JobKeeper and DSP Update

Bedford has heard that Centrelink is very busy processing the JobKeeper forms so they can adjust everyone’s Disability Support Payments (DSP); this is because the JobKeeper payment is considered income.

Centrelink wants to get this right, so it is taking extra time to work this through, and you may find that your DSP amount has not changed.

Everyone’s situation is different, but it is important to bear in mind that until Centrelink adjusts your DSP, a most likely result is that the overpayment of the DSP is continuing to grow.

Bedford is not sure when Centrelink will be in touch with you to explain what you need to do about any DSP overpayments.

It is important that you contact Centrelink if you have any questions or concerns about how the JobKeeper payment and how it impacts your DSP.

If you have any questions you can call Bedford’s Coronavirus Helpline on 0429 135 448 or 0429 124 648 (Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm) or you can email them on: covidhelp@bedfordgroup.com.au
