Christmas Appeal
Gift joy, choice and more opportunities for people with disability this Christmas!

Blend Creative, the Bedford-backed graphic design studio, officially launched their SALA exhibition at The Joinery on 6 August, with more than 50 guests in attendance.

The exhibition showcases the work of Blend’s talented designers for the fifth year, and we are thrilled that it’s the first under the Bedford banner!

The 2024 theme, ‘In Your Wildest Dreams’, was chosen by the Blend designers, and begins from the proposition;

What does your world look like in your wildest dreams?

Using a range of artistic mediums, including illustration, models, dioramas, watercolour and design, the artists interpreted the theme with 34 stunning works produced. From a book cover by an author exploring alternate realities, to works covering space and time travel, and imagery that shows fantasy and reality combined, a range of ideas have been explored and creatively depicted.

We asked Blend designer, Ronie Byles, to describe what the theme made them think about, and how they might approach the work;

I often think about shape shifting – moving into a different form to access out of bound areas and know what life is like somewhere else. You know, like a cat, they can just wander into anywhere and no one is really stopping them. Imagine if you could do that!

— Ronie Byles

The works have a range of artistic styles, but they all seem to share vibrant colour as a connective tissue. The colour and executions are superb, and allow the viewer a glimpse into the creative imaginations and individual interpretations of a world without boundaries, born from the artists wildest dreams.

Blend’s Account Director, Monique Russell says; “Our designers are represented by people of all abilities - some who have deep experience in graphic design, and others who have just begun their design journey. They all share a passion for creating beautiful work, and the SALA Exhibition gives them an opportunity to show off their individual perspective on the theme. We are proud to share their work with the SA community.”

The opening event was a great success, and special thanks go out to The Joinery for hosting, to our own Cultivate Food and Beverage for supplying the delicious food, and to Equal Opportunity SA Commissioner Jodeen Carney for attending. And a very honourable mention to Blend's own Donna for giving the Acknowledgement of Country.

If you would like to view the works, the exhibition is now on display at The Joinery 111 Franklin Street, Adelaide, from 9-5pm Monday to Friday until 30 August.
