Kerry was very surprised to learn recently that she was the lucky winner of the Bedford's 'Future is Bright' lottery early bird prize, and was the proud owner of a brand new Toyota Corolla Ascent Hybrid!
Kerry from Hawthorndene picked up her brand new car from Cornes Toyota at Hawthorn in early August, and says she was impressed by the car on the drive home. "All this new technology is amazing! It's so beautiful to drive and it’s not exactly a small car, there's plenty of room!"
Kerry says that Simon from Cornes Toyota (‘who was fabulous by the way’) explained all the features of the Corolla Ascent, and she was fascinated with how clever the hybrid feature worked. “I don’t even have to plug it in, it generates electrical power on its own!” The car flips between petrol and electric on the road, driving the fuel efficiency right up.
"Right now it’s tucked in the garage, and I keep popping out to look at it. It’s such a beaut little car!"
Kerry first started buying Bedford Lottery tickets about 20 years ago. Her first ticket purchase was from a stall in the local shopping centre, and she said she was surprised to win two directors chairs – "I think they were called ‘SouWesters.’" So that was how her long relationship with the Bedford Lottery started.
Kerry says she has also won other little prizes over the years, like bottles of wine and vouchers, but "...can’t quite fathom how I was lucky enough to win a car." Perhaps she’d made her own luck by ‘being in it to win it’ for so many years.
She said that when she opened up her email to find her Bedford Lottery ticket book for purchase, she said out loud ‘Well Bedford, you haven’t given me a prize for awhile…’ Kerry went on to purchase that book, and in plenty of time to qualify for the early bird prize - and to win it.
Kerry says “I’ll keep buying tickets because I want to support the great work Bedford do. I have a little grandson with special needs, and who knows, maybe one day he will work at Bedford!”
