Bedford has expanded its services in the South East with a brand-new, purpose-built Learning and Experiences Hub, which opened in September.
Co-located at the existing timber mill on Attamurra Road, Glenburnie, the centre provides programs for NDIS clients to develop skills that can be used at home and skills for transitioning into work.
General Manager, Day Options and Experiences, Stefanie Veitch, says “The new Learning and Experiences Hub provides a great opportunity to support the local community and clients to both develop skills and enjoy social experiences.”
The Learning and Experiences Hub will provide programs and activities to support people with disability to connect to the community, improve confidence by learning techniques in art and music, and to join in on communal outdoor activities that promote health and wellbeing.
Importantly, the Hub will offer real-life skills which can be applied at home, such as cooking skills and IT skills (to connect with friends and family), but which may also lead to employment pathways, ie; in food service and in other roles which require a working knowledge of IT.
The Hub has a custom-built teaching kitchen, an art space, IT suite, music room and sensory room, and programs are run both in-house and out in the community to suit individual client needs and interests.
As at the end of 2023, we have welcomed 30 new clients into this space! To find out more about this service, visit the Mount Gambier Learning and Experiences Hub page.
