Late in 2014, two important South Australian disability organisations amalgamated to form Bedford Phoenix Incorporated. With similar cultures and focus, this was an important step to ensure success under the NDIS.
Combined, the new organisation offered greater expertise, reach across 19 sites in South Australia and NSW and a remarkable 120 years of specialised experience.
In June 2015, the board, newly formed with representatives from both Bedford and Phoenix, voted to retain Bedford branding, while recognising and promoting the valued history of both organisations.
This decision was made with great consideration and with one aim in mind, to ensure the Bedford community is in the strongest position to prosper under the NDIS.
Important cultural elements have been retained from Phoenix, including the Phoenix Cup, the esteemed Gordan Reid Medal and the Phoenix Connect lottery service.
All people of Bedford and Phoenix are highly valued and integrated into the new, improved Bedford and we are looking forward to helping people with disability and their familes live life to the fullest and achieve their dreams.
