Production Operator
Reporting to the People & Production Manager, you will play a crucial role in the manufacturing process by operating machinery and equipment to produce high-quality products. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure efficient and safe operation of production equipment, maintain product quality standards, and contribute to meeting production targets. You will be working with and supporting a team of Production Workers to meet production targets, maintain high standards of safety and quality, and ensure the smooth operation of the production line.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Machine Operation and Efficiency:
  • Operate automatic and semi-automatic machinery to meet production schedules efficiently.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for machinery operation.
  • Read and interpret production schedules, work instructions, and plans to maintain efficiency.
  • Set up and adjust machinery for production runs, ensuring correct settings.
Quality Control and Maintenance:
  • Conduct regular equipment inspections to identify malfunctions.
  • Monitor product quality during production and adjust as needed.
  • Optimise equipment performance to minimise downtime and delays.
  • Maintain accurate production records and quality control documents.
Process Improvement and Compliance:
  • Continuously seek process improvement opportunities.
  • Apply Quality Management System requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, WHS, and quality standards.
LEAN Manufacturing and Workplace Organisation:
  • Understand LEAN methodology and work within the 5S framework.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workplace.
Collaboration and Problem-Solving:
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve production issues.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings.
  • Identify and solve problems that may arise during work processes.
Incident Reporting and Training:
  • Report incidents, hazards, and risks promptly.
  • Assist with stock takes and stock control.
  • Provide on-the-job training as needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
You have prior experience in production or manufacturing. You are skilled in machinery setup, operation, basic maintenance, and problem-solving. Your proficiency in Microsoft Office, and strong organisational and time management skills, assist you to be adaptable in a fast-paced environment. You can work both independently and collaboratively to support operational outcomes within a team environment.

Wages - Timber Industry Award - Level 4
