Supported Employee - Gardening

Whyalla Gardening Supported Employment Positions Available

Bedford has an exciting opportunity to join our gardening Team in Whyalla. If you enjoy working outdoors and would like to develop your skills in gardening maintenance, we would like to hear from you. You will be able to work on contracts with big companies such as Aurizon and Whyalla City Council, whilst improving your skills and knowledge.

  • Permanent full time or part time positions, weekdays only, 8am – 4pm

About the Role

We have openings for 2 x full time positions, although part time hours can be discussed. You will work in the community in a small team with full support. You’ll also get training to do your job and build your skills. You will start and end your day at the Whyalla Bedford Supported Employment site and may be based there from time to time for training, development and equipment maintenance.

You may be doing tasks such as these depending on the job and what you are being trained on:

  • using hand tools (sweep, rake, shovel, cultivator)
  • planting
  • watering
  • weeding
  • operating handheld power equipment
  • operating lawnmower - push or ride-on
  • pruning plants
  • spreading mulch
  • rubbish collection
  • herbicide and fertilizer application
  • help to load and unload trailers
  • basic maintenance of equipment

About You

As a supported employee in our gardening team, you will have a passion for gardening, be a great team player and enjoy working in a small team, have a keen interest to learn more and develop your skills in gardening maintenance.

To be eligible for supported employment at Bedford you will need to:

  • have an NDIS plan with funding in your Core Budget for Employment Supports;
  • have employment as a goal in your NDIS plan;
  • be receiving (or eligible to receive) a Disability Support Pension;
  • be over 18 years of age;
  • meet the criteria in the Job Application; and
  • willing to complete an Application Pack

Before a formal offer of employment can be made, you will need to provide:

  • A National Police Clearance (no older than six months old)
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia
  • 100 points of identification
